Whether you are getting married and want to watch your weight or just want to make a lifestyle change, eating correctly can certainly help in both areas. Many people have no idea on how to start eating healthy. There are various types of guides that will assist you in eating a proper balance diet; among them is the food guide pyramid which is also available to the public.

The pyramid outlines the necessary food groups and the amount of each type that should be consumed on a daily basis. Eating right is the first step to a healthier you, when teamed with the proper group of exercises this will make for an even better. Managing weight and nutrition can easily be done but, for many on a busy schedule eating on the run becomes a common practice. This of course should not be an excuse for unhealthy eating. Many things can be eaten on the go, it’s all about eating the appropriate things that will be beneficial to your body’s daily needs.

The food pyramid is a guideline that should be followed and considered on a daily basis.

The pyramid was constructed to teach people how to manage their nutrition; it lists all of the daily food group requirements. The food guide pyramid should be available for purchase in any health food, book or drug stores. Check with your doctor’s office, as they may be able to supply you with one as well.

VARIETY, MODERATION, BALANCE
The pyramid conveys three messages which are, variety, moderation and balance. Eating a variety of foods from different food groups will ensure your body of meeting its daily nutritional balance. Variety makes eating more interesting. The variety of foods you choose to include in your daily diet should be made up of healthy foods that you will also enjoy eating.

Just because you are eating all of your daily food groups does not mean you can eat as much as you want. Keeping an eye on the moderation of food you consume is also an important part to eating healthy. Where many people go wrong is when they consume all of their daily calories within one or two food groups, this is where balance comes in.

The important part to staying on target with your new interest of eating healthy is to get to know the food pyramid and take charge of your eating habits on a daily basis especially if you are concerned about looking your best in that special outfit for the wedding.

What does the food guide pyramid include?

Fats, oils and sweets- oils & sugars
The top of the pyramid has been left empty for fats, oils and sweets. There is no recommended intake as these are not the best things to put into our body however, they are a part of our everyday diet and so must be included in the food pyramid.

We consume these unnecessary food groups of fat when we use oil for cooking and in salad dressings, ice cream, butter, gravy, margarine, cream cheese, candy, jam and drinks like sodas and other fruit drinks. All of these fatty product intakes should be carefully monitored in your daily eating habits. Too much of this group is not good for your health and could cause health problems or obesity.

Following the food pyramid will prove to be a wise choice once you have gotten use to it. As with everything, time, patients and self discipline will encourage you to make changes within your health and lifestyle. Starting today will be the best thing you can do for yourself from this point and on.

Eating correctly will show through your physical endurance, healthy looking skin and most importantly it will have you feeling much better in mind, body and soul.
