Bridesmaids Duties in The Wedding

A bridesmaids party is made up of between four to six ladies who have played a special role in the brides life and sometimes someone close to the groom such as a sister or family member. This party will be a big support to the bride-to-be during the planning and stressful periods approaching the day of her wedding.
These young women will stand by the marrying couple during the ceremony, picture taking and during dinner, the bride, groom and bridal party along with the grooms men will be the primary focal point of the entire day. Aside from the maid of honor all participants in the wedding party will be dressed the same. The wedding attire is usually chosen by the bride with some input from the bridal party.
The bridal party commonly needs to meet up a few times for a dress fitting, this is a good time to get everyone together for lunch or a day out shopping let loose and enjoy this time together as friends. Bridesmaids do not only need to play the role of a good friend during this time but they are expected to take charge of some small details that will be of a big part by the time the wedding is through. Here we have put together a list of things the bridesmaids are usually responsible for.

  • Stand the expense of their wedding attire.
  • Help to run and plan the wedding shower.
  • Usually one of the bridesmaids will keep track of all received gifts (have the bridesmaid write on the back of each received card the gift that was given, this makes things easy when sending thank you notes).
  • Assists the maid of honor and bride with pre-wedding tasks and shopping.
  • Lend a helping hand with getting the bride ready for the ceremony.
  • If a receiving line is planned the bridal party will be included in the line.
  • Provides the guests with confetti, rice or birdseed to throw at the married couple once the ceremony is through (if site allows it).
